Healing From Trauma: The Realizations—Artwork Inspired By The Human Condition

Experience Brushstrokes Of Resilience

Decipher the bewildering, disorienting, and incapacitating—gut-wrenching sensation nested between two extremes: numbness and hyper-awareness—the realization of it all: healing from trauma.

Those who have suffered greatly do not apologize for having lived.

The artistic expression depicts a woman seemingly caught in a vortex of emotion hints at the unsettling experience of confronting one's fears and anxieties in the waking world.

Prose Inspiration: "Caught between the stagnant normalcy and the terrifying chaos of insanity, my own unsettled and paralyzed stagnation haunts me."

Deteriorating and infuriating, broken pieces are placed back out of place regardless of the structure—societal frustration is an out-of-control battleground of insanity in the defense of places where the bruised are simply trying to make changes—the valiancy of innocence emerges when tagged toes go unlabeled, and resigned compliance becomes a declaration of war for those just trying to leave dark places.

The artistic expression depicts a woman losing herself; conforming to external pressures--in the lowered eyelids and lack of visible emotion hint at societal expectations to comply.

Prose Inspiration: ""Deteriorating and infuriating, broken pieces are placed back out of place regardless of the structure—societal frustration is an out-of-control battleground of insanity in the defense of places where the bruised are simply trying to make changes—the valiancy of innocence emerges when tagged toes go unlabeled, and resigned compliance becomes a declaration of war for those just trying to leave dark places."

Dear God, you overlooked the simplest things like forgetting my name the mixed-up mind I don’t know if I can survive a child you raised chewing on broken glass swapping types of sanity out in this gate-kept hell of the forgotten a child you raised Dear God!

Prose Inspiration:

"Dear God,

you overlooked

the simplest things

like forgetting my name

the mixed-up mind

I don’t know if I can survive

a child you raised

chewing on broken glass

swapping types of sanity out

in this gate-kept hell

of the forgotten

a child you raised

Dear God!"

*Note: Read the entire passage, then repeat the final line in reverse, pause for reflection—cycling back through for maximum effect.

The artistic expression depicts a sense of melancholy and fading memory—lost in thought or perhaps slumber—the ghostly shattered crown symbolizing a loss of connection with reality; slipping away into obscurity.

No one swims to the middle of the ocean to find what they're looking for, so why are you treading water?

The artistic expression depicts a woman content in her submerged state—is she merely surviving, waiting for a change or reflecting on personal growth—the search for purpose, and the nature of contentment amidst uncertainty.

Prose Inspiration: "No one swims to the middle of the ocean to find what they're looking for, so why are you treading water?"

The realization phase in the six stages of processing trauma: Ah, the cunning defense mechanism that is emotional detachment—the bewildering, disorienting, and incapacitating—a gut-wrenching sensation nested between two states of being: numbness and hyperawareness.
